We all know the internet is great (and sometimes not so great) and can be really useful for a number of things:
- Finding the cutest kitten/puppy/baby animal photos
- Facebook stalking your ex and his new girlfriend (don’t lie, we’ve all done it)
- Finding that hottie you hooked up with on the weekend
Well, one girl learned that whilst you can be successful at number 3, you may not get the result you want. What do I mean by this? Well, read the full story here (The Lad Bible WARNING: NSFW LANGUAGE! – Not Safe for Work, for those of you who don’t know!). Essentially, a girl called Pippa McKinney had a great time and met a guy she was keen on, much to her dismay he’d given her the wrong number. All was not lost! She took to the internet to track this mystery guy down… and well, she found him.
Thanks to the lovely people on the internet, she discovered that her prince charming was in fact, already in a relationship and not single, as he’d so claimed (boo hiss). Now, since this all went down, memes have been flowing about the whole situation. It just goes to show how quickly people can jump on an unfortunate situation and blow it up so that everyone and their dog knows about it.
One meme even used the “Straight Outta” template that’s become quite popular on social media lately, as the lovely Maree Risteski has written about in her blog post here (#Hashtag Digital).
What happens on the internet, clearly doesn’t stay on the internet.
